A WORD FROM BROTHER JOE
Hey, Summit Family, what a FANTASTIC attendance this past Sunday Morning! Our ushers are talking about the need to set up more chairs, as we continue to experience rapid growth! Every week I am greeting “first-time visitors” who are “checking us out”. Please allow me to address that situation in my message to you this week. If you, personally, attended our weekly staff meetings each Wednesday morning you would often hear me tell each staff member “WE HAVE TO HIT A HOME RUN EVERY SUNDAY MORNING!!” What do I mean by that? Here are the facts: Every Sunday we have individuals and families who have just moved to Wichita, or for some other reason they are looking for a new church home. They usually have a number of churches in our community they plan to visit. When they come to visit “US” I want them to have such a warm, inspiring, uplifting, challenging, and positive experience that they will want to return the next Sunday, and forget about those other places they planned to check out! In other words, we often have only “ONE OPPORTUNITY” to impact that person/family! The question I want to ask YOU is this; “WHAT are YOU, as a member of our Summit family, DOING to make that impression, on our visitors, that will make them want to COME BACK?” See, that’s HOW IMPORTANT your “smile”, your “greeting”, your “welcoming courteous greeting” IS to the growth of our church! It STARTS in the parking lot, and continues at the front door with our greeters, in the nursery, in the children’s area, in the welcome center, with the person they sit down beside in the worship center, with the music, with the preacher, etc.!! EVERYBODY who interacts with that visitor could represent the reason they come back, or not! And, the MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR, in all of this, is the fact that “that visitor” may not know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior! You see, how we act; what kind of demeanor we possess; can make an ETERNAL DIFFERENCE! What a responsibility that is for all of us who make Summit our church home! I ask you to SERIOUSLY ponder this truth! I’ll be looking for you this Sunday! Let’s all put “our best foot forward”! I’m excited about the new sermon series I begin this weekend entitled, “Seven Fatal Flaws”. I believe, through God’s Word, this message will change all of our lives! BE BLESSED, and, please, pray for me as I prepare, and never forget how much I love you, Bro. Joe
